Here are the recipes I promised you on Monday along with a few thoughts near the end! Please share some of your favourite Christmas recipes… I’d love to try them!

Brewed Christmas Coffee
• 12 Tbsp of your favourite ground coffee
Along with the grounds in the filter add:
• ½ tsp cinnamon
• ¼ tsp nutmeg
• ¼ tsp cloves
• ¼ tsp allspice
• OR 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
• 48 oz water

Brew coffee as usual. Enjoy with cream or sugar as you normally take your coffee.
*For a sweet treat add about ¼ cup of sugar or Splenda® to the filter as well.
**For a decadent version heat or steam 2 cups of cream (half and half or whipping cream) and mix with brewed coffee.
***If you have coffee syrups this is simply heavenly with 1 shot of vanilla and 1 shot of hazelnut in each mug.

Quickie Christmas Coffee (makes 2 mugs of coffee)

• 8 oz cream (milk if you prefer)
• 8 oz boiling water
• 2 rounded teaspoons instant coffee
• 2 packets of Splenda® or sugar (optional)
• 1/8 tsp pumpkin (or apple) pie spice

Heat the cream for 1½ minutes in the microwave.
Add boiling water.
Add instant coffee.
Stir to froth with whisk.
Add spice and sweetener, whisk and enjoy.

It’s amazing how just a hint of pumpkin pie spice makes a cup of coffee move from plain old everyday coffee to something extra special. I think about how God has given us his creative ability to add a little something to each of our families, marriages, and homes.

What is the spice you add to your family’s life? Are you the one who keeps them laughing? Do you remind your loved ones of last year’s touching moments? Are you a talk-a-lot who brings encouragement and life to the party? Is your level-headedness what gets things done at your house? Perhaps your quiet thoughtfulness gives a sense of belonging, acceptance and confidence to your home?

This Christmas, every time you taste something a little ‘extra-special’ quietly ask the Lord in your heart what spice He wants you to add to this year’s celebration of His gift to us.
